Abstract: | The organisation under study, Philips Consumer Communications (PCC), attempted to achieve committed goals by deploying a stretched target approach. However, despite numerous management interventions, the organisation is still far from reaching management's expectations. The present study, which focused on the attitude of staffs in one of PCC's factory (Shenzhen), tried to explore the relationship between six proposed managerial dimensions (organisation purpose/value, empowerment, leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity and knowledge management) and the performance of the factory. After a qualitative analysis of the organisation, through interview and survey, it is concluded that all six managerial dimensions have effect on the organisation performance. Conclusions reached from the study showed that these six managerial dimensions cannot be ignored, and that they should be addressed if management wants to succeed in a turbulent business environment. Specifically, the author recommends some basic guidelines so as to overcome the internal barriers and to improve the organisation performance in the long run. |
