Abstract: | This dissertation deals with the implementation of sensorless field oriented control for an induction motor using the Kalman filter. Firstly, the needs for sensorless field control and the advantages of using this method will be discussed, then the theory of field oriented methodology and Kalman filter is described. Secondly, simulation studies on a field-oriented controlled (FOC) current regulated PWM induction motor drive without and with Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) are described. Finally it presents an evaluation of the results. The simulation results show that the drive can be operated over a wide range of speed and the performance of the speed control is very good. |
