dc.title | The design and the implement of a DRP consultation system for the middle size corporation including previous technical testing and survey | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | This year, the most popular word in media is probably "The Disaster" all over the world, for example, the earthquake in Sichuan and the cyclone in Burma. In the IT and networking aspects, we are also facing potential "disasters". Suppose that a corporation intranet (e.g., campus network in university) is composed of multiple sites deployed in a city or different cities. All servers are running the same MIS (POS, CRM, etc) and they work and support each other. In such an intra-network, the failure of a network element, for example, a fiber, a server, or a router, etc, can cause the failure of a sub-network, thus leading to large data and service loss. For this reason, the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) have become a major concern for network service providers and have attracted more and more attention. Significant research and development effort, both in industry and in academic, are currently underway to address this topic. In my research, I first introduced the background of DRP. Then I designed a questionnaire to review the current DRP status of some major universities in China. After a brief analysis of the feedbacks, I started to explore the concepts of DRP, BCP, RTO, RPO, RTA etc. With the support of some DR solution companies, a set of compositive testing platform has been established. From the testing work, I summed up four abstract levels, including data DR level, DB DR level, SAN DR level and App DR level. Next, with the DR testing and the feedback of questionnaire, a DRP consultation system is designed for the people who do not know how to implement DRP. This system can be a helpful assistant for those IT managers to plan and to run their IT assets DR works. Finally, the conclusion and future work are summarized in Chapter 6. This dissertation focuses on not only technical section, but also management section. Some test and design works are based on the current IT environment of Xi'an Jiaotong University. | en_US |
