| dcterms.abstract | Computerized systems are introduced into an organization to improve productivity or quality of workmanship. Successful introduction of such systems inevitably leads to changed work practices, methods and attitudes. The firm's organizational structure and management style will also affect and be affected by an appropriate choice of system implementation strategy. Computerized information processing systems cannot be effectively implemented without commitment from both management and users of those systems and adequate training and support. This paper concentrates on human aspects of technological change such as computer implementation and in particular, issues of training and support. The objective of this paper is to draw attention to problems associated with the introduction of new technology, both generally and specifically for firms of consulting building services engineers. The experience of the leading firms will be used as the basis for discussion of these problems. Solutions to problems associated with poor implementation of new technology are also suggested. | en_US |
