dc.title | A feasibility study of outsourcing of building fabric maintenance in a commercial office complex | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Traditionally, organizations prefer internalizing and vertically integrating business functions in order to have autonomy and gain competitive advantage. However, in recent years, some organizations are undergoing major transformations by joining the outsourcing bandwagon. Outsourcing, the use of external agents to perform one or more organizational activities, allows an organization to leverage its resource and focus on its core competencies. Building fabric maintenance in a commercial office complex is at the heart of its business, and its building fabrics systems often touch virtually every people surrounding. A property management company considering how to outsource their activities needs to consider a variety of factors before making the outsourcing decision. Given the increasing pervasiveness of building fabric maintenance outsourcing, this dissertation aims to examine the outsourcing of building fabric maintenance including its history, motives and the decision making process. Using a case study approach, a feasibility study of a commercial office complex was carried out to compare the impact of outsourcing of its building fabric maintenance. | en_US |
