Abstract: Over 100,000 public have made use of the Local Employment Services of the Labour Department each year for job seeking. At the moment, most of the operations in the Local Employment Services Offices are still in manual effort, therefore it is believed that there are great potential for the improvement of the service especially for job matching process. Expert system can be considered to facilitate the job matching process in the Local Employment Services Offices and provide more accurate result so as to increase the successful placement figure. A prototype of the job matching system has been developed to demonstrate the feasibility of applying expert system to job matching process. An evaluation is conducted by the officers in the Labour Department to test the functions of the prototype and assess the benefits of the expert system to the employment service area.
