Microcomputer software piracy and its prevention in Hong Kongen_US
This project report, consisting of eight different chapters, is about, as its very title would clearly suggest, the existence of microcomputer software PIRACY as a distinct problem in Hong Kong, its significant related issues, particularly those relating to a business setting, and the various kinds of preventive measures - managerial, technical and legal - which are either currently in use or will shortly be available in the future. Its focus is on exploring the inadequacies of such measures and examining all other major causes leading to the proliferation of this kind of illegal activity. It suggests, in its conclusion, that a better "cure" for this problem should be attainable through the combined efforts of the Government, the software industry itself and the business community. It accordingly recommends a set of solutions aimed at promoting, in a nutshell, a healthier microcomputer end-user culture that recognizes the virtues of correct and responsible use of legally acquired software through primarily increased publicity and toughened sanctions.en_US
