Abstract: | The present study investigated the effects of sex role stereotypes/attitude toward women as managers on women's career development. This study also examined women's perceptions about their sex roles nowadays in Hong Kong. A total of 107 working women served as subjects in the study. The results indicated that there is little relationship between sex role stereotypes/attitude towards women as managers and women's career development. Only when looking into the separate effects of the independent variables, it was found that femininity and age has great effects on women's career aspirations. Furthermore, the result showed that women's career satisfaction is significantly affected by the specific gender requirement on job. As a lot of significant variables did not predict women's career development, implications for future studies are therefore discussed. |
