Investigation of errors mitigation for minimum range error algorithmen_US
Global Positioning System (GPS) has played an important part in vehicle navigation during the past 10 years. GPS used in positioning of vehicle navigation indicates a better result than any other navigation positioning technologies. Now in urban environment, GPS signal is easily obstructed by many high buildings. Especially in Hong Kong environment, there are a lot of high buildings, where is called the high-rise environment to obstruct GPS signals. Many vehicle navigation technologies used in Hong Kong cannot work very well. Therefore, one algorithm called Minimum Range Error Algorithm (MRERA) was proposed for improving positioning in Hong Kong in 2001. This algorithm, together with tow-cost high sensitivity GPS receiver, can work on vehicle navigation positioning without sufficient GPS satellites. My research investigates the influence of errors in MRERA Pseudorange got from GPS receiver contains plenty of errors. These errors may influence the results of MRERA. Static station data analysis is the bask study on MRERA and from this analysis we can know the importance of errors removing in MRERA Then use MRERA in dynamic and high-rise environments to check its feasibility. Three experiments were taken for this thesis. One is done in a good sky visibility area and two are taken in the typical Hong Kong high-rise environment. Good environment obtained a better result by using MRERA for positioning. Two bad environment need to consider more methods and use more models in it, with which the data not only contained GPS error. The extend factors bringing by the environment make the errors in MRERA more complex. Data on the bad environment will be more complex than the better environment's. In this thesis, I want to analyze the errors in the MRERA and to research the precision of MRERA in the high-rise environment.en_US
