dcterms.abstractThe cyber-trading activities are increasing everyday around the world. Even though such e-business can greatly improve our daily life, it seems to be the only initial stage for the development of the e trading. There are still rooms for improvement. One of the hot topic for this issue is the real-time Internet trading or Internet Real-time Auction. A variety of commonly used auction mechanisms that are supported by the application, security requirements, and pre-auction and post-auction interactions needed to complete auction based trading are first discussed in this report. Then, I propose a system infrastructure for easing the construction of agent-based systems. Such infrastructure constitutes a convenient solution for helping agent-base system development from the cumbersome interaction issues inherent to any agent-based system, and therefore for helping us concentrate on the domain-dependent agents' logic issues (from the agents' inner behavior to the agents' social behavior). My conceptual model is composed of two fundamental elements: Conversation protocols [10], coordination patterns that impose a set of rules on the communicative acts uttered by the agents participating in a conversation (what can be said, to whom, and when), and inter-AuctionAgent, autonomous software agents that mediate the interaction between each agent and the agent society wherein this is situated. Interagents employ conversation protocols for mediating conversations among agents. Thus, the management of conversation protocols is presented as the motivation of inter-AuctionAgent. JIM [10] - A Java-based implementation of a general-purpose inter-AuctionAgent. On one hand, I show how it handles conversation protocols in practice. On the other hand, how it has been endowed with the capability of dealing with agent interaction at different levels by means of the SHIP protocol. Finally, we illustrate the use of inter-AuctionAgent by explaining the several roles that they play Fish-Market model (FM), an agent-mediated electronic auction market. Finally, I discuss how the delay and easy collaboration aspects of the Internet will cause auctions on the Internet to be different than the traditional auctions.en_US
