Concrete construction planning in consideration of time-sensitive properties of concreteen_US
This dissertation proposes a method of concrete construction planning in consideration of time-sensitive concrete properties for fresh planner use. In this study, it consists of three main parts: part I is to introduce the background of construction planning and review the time-sensitive properties of concrete; part II is to perform concrete construction planning for a case study in consideration of time-sensitive properties of concrete and weather factor; part III is to conclude the dissertation and suggest the further study. Part I covers the following chapters. 1) Chapter I introduces the background of application of planning methods in construction industry, the existing problems in planning and the main objective of this study. 2) Chapter 2 introduces findings about the time-sensitive properties of concrete including the workability of RMC, development of strength, maturity of concrete, etc. According to the procedure of concrete construction, influences of time-sensitive properties of concrete are studied in different stages of concrete construction as considerations of every main activity planning, say RMC delivery. Concreting and Curing.. Part II as the core of this dissertation introduces the procedure of the proposed concrete construction planning in chapter 3. And it is imagined a construction project and then performs a concrete construction planning for this project by applying the proposed method in chapter 4. In this case study, concrete construction planning, which considers the time-sensitive properties of concrete studied, will be performed by application of the simulation tool of HKCONSIM and shown in precedence diagram method (PDM). In order to make the construction project complete, in the end, other activities such as formwork striking, steel works, formworks erection are added to the concrete construction plan with a rough expected duration to form a whole construction planning of a construction cycle of one typical floor. Part III, finally, in the end of part III, chapter 5 suggests some recommendations for the further study.en_US
