| Abstract: | The emergence and development of e-commerce provides an opportunity for facilities management to create values of its product and services. Although the usage of e-commerce in Facilities Management is not very high at present, the application like e-supply chain, e-procurement, project management on line and customer services are gradually used in facilities management. It was found that facilities management practitioners adopt e-commerce to improve the functional area as Maintenance and Operations, Project Management and Customer Services. The research demonstrated that the positive impact contributes to facilities management by cost and time reduction, improving efficiency, enhanced customer services, organizational structural changes and opportunities to development of FM software and application. Negative impact was assessed as the concern of the security and reliability of the internet, and the possible disruption of the business operation if e-commerce does not match with its organization's goals and resources. Suggested measures to ascertain the benefit of e-commerce and risk minimization was discussed and it is anticipated the number of e-commerce user will be increased in facilities management due to the ability of creating value to the FM services and products by careful planning. |
