dc.title | A genre analysis of biography | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | This dissertation explores how writers project their personal information through "biography". It includes a condensed theoretical account of critical discourse analysis, a framework for analyzing discursive events. Textual and linguistic analysis that are drawn from 21 biographies allow this dissertation to typify the texts as constituting a non-routine, personal genre. This discussion can serve as a foundation for writing a biography. By detailing the generic elements included, this dissertation indicates how the texts are rhetorically designed in order to create a good impression. The dissertation ends by discussing the implications of the findings to introduce a guideline for writing such kind of text. | en_US |
