| Abstract: | This research is primarily concerned with the way companies actually conduct environmental search; the factors affecting their searching behavior and the reasons they perform in that way. The study is in an attempt to explore the difference between the actual environmental scanning behavior and normative behavior and the reasons behind them. The findings showed that scanning environment in customers and competition sector are relatively important. Personal contacts and external communication are more preferable while internal communication is overlooked in some sectors. Respondents believed that almost all factors listed would affect their scanning behavior. It is suggested to extend the study to other industries, other countries such as South East Asia countries. Furthermore, cultural differences as a factor should be considered in future research designs. |
