dcterms.abstract | Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) is a common male health problem in the over 40s. As Transurethral Resection of The Prostate (TURP) has been the gold standard treatment for Benign prostate hyperplasia for more than 50 years. Aim of study: to explore the affects on the quality of life in this group of patient, and secondly; to help nurses or other health care profession to plan the long term post operative care for this group of patient. Method: Delphi technique research method was used. Three rounds of data were collected by means of postal questionnaires. The expert panel recruited was 113. They had all undergone the transurethral resection of the prostate l2 months to 24 months previously. Results: In the first and second round; 87 new added, 160 items were identified and categorized into 17 categories. Based on the 17 categories the 3rd round questionnaire was developed. In the third round; agreed categories were prioritized by informants in the final round by utilizing an 11-point rating scale. After the third round; means score ranges from 2.45-3.88 for the 17 categories, 4 groups of informants were identified; A) informants had a big problem (1:3), B) informant had no affect and this was the largest group, C) less informant had big problem and D) half or more of the informant were not affected at all. In conclusion, the study had identified this 4 groups of informant and nursing interventions can be developed; such as new discharge plan, discharge checklist, and a leaflet that support the aim to help nurses to plan and improve the quality of care for TURP patients. | en_US |
