Critical success factors in implementing ISO 9000 in Hong Kongen_US
To stay ahead of competition, many companies in Hong Kong have pulled up all strengths in improving quality and set up effective and efficient systems. To this end, ISO9000 provides a model for quality management system which sets the foundation for future quality growth. However, the strict compliance of ISO9000 quality system requires a lot of documentation and staff need to devote a substantial amount of time and effort in preparing the documents. If employees are not ready for the change or not recognize the need for change, they will resist, making the whole program a failure. To implement the program successfully, it is essential to carefully bring about planned organization change on the cultural values, belief and attitudes of all the people working in the company. In the main, tactical deals with the corporate culture and human factors are regarded as the success factors for implementing ISO9000. The experiences form two companies namely Carrier (H.K.) Limited and OOCL (H.K.) Limited who are the successful cases are shared to establish the success factors. Their backgrounds, implementation steps and views on success factors of ISO9000 are studied. In the conclusion, the author tries to highlight the importance of creating a lasting company-wide quality culture which promotes the quality momentum inside the company. It is considered as the most crucial factor in achieving the company's longterm quality strategy.en_US
