dc.title | A congestion control study in ATM networks | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Due to the stringent traffic requirements in ATM networks, no single congestion control strategy can provide satisfactory performance. A congestion control method using counter based control (CBC) is studied. The CBC scheme is a preventive congestion control scheme, combining admission control, policing, and traffic smoothing. The original CBC scheme has been modified in order to maintain fairness among the connections of each service class. The analytical model presented in the original paper has been re-derived, with a number of corrections and simplifications made. A new analytical model with improved accuracy and reduced time complexity has been derived for a single class system. This analytical model has been verified by simulation results. Simulation results also prove that the CBC scheme is a viable method to provide congestion control for services with different traffic requirements in an efficient manner. | en_US |
