Abstract: This paper is a study on conflict management in which a survey of the conflict management styles of professional engineers in Hong Kong was conducted. It has been found that the conflict handling styles of these professional engineers are preferred in the following order: integrating, obliging, dominating, compromising, and avoiding. Demographic factors have been measured and analysed to examine their relationships with the conflict management behaviours of professional engineers in Hong Kong. Some implications have been drawn from the findings which are related back to certain pertinent aspects of some published academic work on conflict management processes and models.
