dc.title | Simulation and measurement of outdoor environment of public housing development in Hong Kong | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | This dissertation assesses the outdoor thermal comfort and air ventilation of a typical public housing development in Hong Kong. Upper Ngau Tau Kok Estate Phase 2 and 3 (UNTK) was selected for the analysis. On-site environmental data was collected in order to evaluate the outdoor thermal comfort. Three-dimensional computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations based on the standard k-e turbulence model were performed in order to assess the outdoor air ventilation. The degree of improvement in outdoor air ventilation performance by the use of cross-ventilation design in the common corridors of UNTK buildings was also evaluated. Performance based air ventilation assessment method with wind velocity ratio as an indicator was used. The results revealed that the outdoor thermal comfort and air ventilation of the UNTK Estate are satisfactory. It was found that the degree of improvement in outdoor air ventilation by the use of cross-ventilation design is 13.6%. | en_US |
