Abstract: | "With a high IQ you can be an efficient professional or manager, but with a high EQ you can became a great leader (Daniel Goleman, 1995)". Recent findings in psychology vitalize the importance of an individual EQ in developing a happy and meaningful life. It is said that the magnitude of an individual EQ is strongly related to his health, creativity, productivity and even the profitability of the organization he served. A number of properties of a person determine the magnitude of her or his EQ. They include the courage, forgiveness, empathy, resilience and emotional expression. It is believed that these properties can be measured by different kinds of testing methods. However, unlike the assessment of IQ which is straight forward and well established, EQ measurement is subject to much more factors and uncertainties. It is very difficult and time consuming, even for an experienced human service practitioner, to assess one's EQ score. Definitely, the using of information technology would bring a lot of contributions to this kind of job. This dissertation proves that, by developing a prototype computer expert system and evaluating its applicability, it is possible to employ advanced computer knowledge to tackle the task and make an effective and efficient assessment of the EQ score. |
