Abstract: The purpose of this project is to provide a scheduling method for Just-in-Time (JIT) production system in a high-variety manufacturing industry. The algorithm to be developed on this paper determines both the production sequence and quantity for a set of JIT orders, which attempt to satisfy customers due dates while minimize the inventory level. The study is composed of three major tasks: (1) building a system model, (2) developing a scheduling algorithm, and (3) evaluating the result. A prototype based on the proposed algorithm will also be developed. A number of tests are conducted to verify the results and determine the appropriate parameters value.
