dcterms.abstractEUC has been described as an inevitable trend in all types of organizations. The proliferation of EUC has led to a growing concern about how to formally support and then manage and control this phenomenon. This research aims to check whether EUC is utilized at varying levels of complexity, associated with different levels of job motivation and job satisfaction in respect of a multi-division set up management and control system. Under the assumption that EUC is an organizational innovation, this study investigates the management of EUC from an organizational theory framework. The overall research question is what EUC management infrastructure is most effective for a given organization at a particular point in time. The main objective of the case study in the subject organization (Ciba) is to verify that in a multi-division corporation, different stages of growth end user computing are likely to exist based on end user profiles and the organization / division policies. This is likely to affect the overall management and control of information systems and technology usage and application in the organization. A descriptive research was conducted with the use of a 6 page questionnaire consisting of 32 questions plus various interviews. Findings of the study indicate affect, perceived consequences ( R.L. Thompson et al 1991)had significant effects on EUC. Based on the survey results it is recommended that increased management support through more resources allocation as well as encouragement, set up of information center support and a federal (hybrid structure) organization can facilitate the development of EUC in Ciba. Besides, a careful change management should carry out in dealing the process of decentralization from a centralized IT environment.en_US
