dcterms.abstract | Since the implementation of reform and open door policy China's hotel industry has developed rapidly and become one of the fastest growing and most internationalized sectors in the nation's economy. A network of star-rated hotels of various sizes, grades, styles and with multi investment entities has been formed, which has played an important role in the international hotel industry and has brought forth far reaching social impact at home and abroad. However, with globalization and integrative development of the world economy, domestic competition has become international and international competition domestic. China's entry into WTO and the accelerating development of the market economy has put China's hotel industry into a increasingly complicated and competitive situation. Therefore, how to make correct strategic decisions is a most realistic issue affecting the sustainable development of China's hotel industry. Zhejiang is a province in eastern China known for its well developed economy. GDP exceeded US $3400 in Zhejiang by the end of 2005. On the one hand, the driving force of economic development has not only fueled the rapid growth of the hotel industry in Zhejiang Province but also spurred new waves of hotel investment and construction. On the other hand, in spite of the great increase in hotel numbers, many problems are identified such as small size for most hotels, lower collectivization level, irrational industrial structure, low performance, vicious competition, and dispersed operation. This thesis focuses its research on two core issues of how to improve industrial performance and how to realize sustainable development of the hotel industry. Based on SCP theory, description of the actuality of the tourism and hotel industry in Zhejiang Province, and through discussion, independent interview as well as second data analysis, the thesis analyzes the industrial structure, market behavior, and performance of the hotel industry in Zhejiang, probes into ways of optimizing the internal mechanism of industrial structure and improving industrial performance, and brings forward scientific development strategies for Zhejiang hotel industry. | en_US |
