Abstract: In Hong Kong, the laboratory times in secondary schools for experiments are often not adequate. Most of time, students cannot finish their experiments in the laboratories. Therefore, some time-consuming experiments are abandoned, such as designing logic gate applications. Even when those experiments are conducted, students usually encounter a lot of technical problems. For example, they often connect an electronic device to the wrong electronic source. Nowadays, teachers have been using the web to tutor students. On the web, teachers can freely produce the tutorial material and self-learning exercises about logic gate circuits. Students can study those materials without time constraint. However, not all the secondary school teachers have adequate technical skill to create an effective and interactive learning web interfaces. In this project, the Interactive Logic Gate Tutoring (ILGT) system is proposed. In ILGT, Logic Gate Markup Language (LGML) is used to define different logic gates, e.g. AND gate, OR gate and NOT gate, etc.. Teachers can use the LGML tags to design the logic gate tutorial materials without any programming effort. Students can then get the information of logic gates through an interactive web interface of ILGT. Separate information is displayed in each frame and the students are allowed to see different information simultaneously.
