A study of business process reengineering for the diffusion of high technology in manufacturingen_US
The mechanism in the diffusion of high technology through process redesign has been analysed and described in this research. A generic model for implementation of Business Process Reengineering was developed to assist the adoption of technically efficient high technology. The model was developed basing on the Object-oriented method. This method provides for the successfully derivation of useful entities such as the goals, roles, responsibilities, interactions for the implementation. The resulting model consists of basic, reusable building blocks of implementation strategies that are suitable for reengineering within the particular application area. The generic model has been successfully implemented in a Small Manufacturing Enterprise in Hong Kong. It is significant in the institutionalisation of openness in communication and aggressive technological policy. Results showed that the implementation of the model has significantly improved the manufacturer's ability to select high technology.en_US
