| dcterms.abstract | Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is a powerful technique to eliminate duplicated works and reduce inefficiency. In addition to cost reduction, BPR does shorten cycle time to increase a company's Just-In-Time competitiveness. Organization structure, technology, culture, individual values and performance measurements are five core enablers for BPR to effect process change. These enablers are influencing each other. Therefore, an equilibrium balance among them should be made before a process change can be solidified. An intrafunctional BPR yields little increment constituting only continuous process improvements. Reengineering accounts payable systems is one of the examples. Dramatic improvements can only be achieved through an interfunctional BPR which provides more opportunities to get rid of unnecessary tasks among different functions. Purchasing cycle involves all departments within an organisation. It is one of the major waste creating processes in a company. More benefits can be expected from reengineering this cycle. To get a better chance of success, "MASTER PC' should be possessed. These include manageable scope, strategic alignment, management support, appropriate training, realistic expectations, performance reinforcement, stakeholders participation and overall compatibility. | en_US |
