dcterms.abstractThe language ability of students in Hong Kong is an important topic nowadays. Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) has often been the main theme of educational projects in Hong Kong. Businesses from all sectors look for staff with a good command of English. Educators have put more effort into enhancing the English standard of the people who are engaged in the tourism industries. The purpose of this study is to enhance hotel students' learning of practical Hotel English by elaborating under what conditions role-play can have a greater contribution to students' learning, examining how students perceive role-playing as a class learning activity and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of role-playing in order to refine role-playing methods to be more effective and efficient from the learner and facilitators' point of view.en_US
