| Abstract: | With the rapid economic development of China, its eastern Cities are witnessing an extremely fast rate of growth, featuring an increase of gross economic output and population, and expansion of urban scale. Hangzhou, as one of these cities, is confronted by the increase of GDP and the long-term benefits brought about by environmental protection. It is question as to how to make a balance between these two critical elements. As a historically famous tourist city, Hangzhou is endowed with a number of natural advantages. How to make full use of these advantages and improve its environmental quality in an effort to push forward Hangzhou's tourism industry and manage a co-development of economy and environment is the main issue that plagues Hangzhou now. This article collects overviews and summaries in this field, consults concerning policies and data from relevant government authorities, conducts random investigations and talks with specialists, filters all the suggestions in the regard of Hangzhou tourism, and then makes an analysis properly. The conclusion is that the current tourism and environmental protection in Hangzhou can basically meet the requirements of its sustainable development. But still many specific issues are there waiting to be taken into consideration. Hangzhou municipal government and all its residents should make efforts to attain this goal. In the final analysis, this article points out that Hangzhou should be built into an ecological city and some detailed steps are mentioned for this sake. No doubt the analysis of this article is far from being complete, as the author is not in the position to collect all possible data and make more profound probe. This needs further improving. |
