dc.title | Adoption of JDF in printing industry | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | JDF arrived at 2000. During the past 10 years, most researchers conducted many researches to study whether JDF could be adopted in printing industry. The studies demonstrated that JDF was technically feasible. However, after ten years, JDF is still not popular in printing industry and only a few printers have implemented JDF solutions. This research is to review the feasibility of JDF solution and to figure out why JDF has not been adopted in most of the printers. The complete processes in print media have been introduced - prepress, press and post-press. It is highlighted how JDF technology can be applied in each process and what are the benefits to apply the technology. Besides the literature review, twenty-five interviews of managing directors and managers among nineteen famous printers have been carried in this research. The purpose of the interview is to collect the data to study the reasons why JDF has been adopted in the printing firm or the reasons why JDF has not been adopted. The findings are valuable for the researchers and/or JDF vendor to revise why JDF solution is not popular in print media. With the deep inspection of JDF technology, a model of JDF adoption will be proposed. It can be a reference to any researchers who would like to conduct further research on this topic with the details of JDF/JMF technology presented in this research. | en_US |
