Abstract: The project of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge has been planned and discussed for more than two decades and finally began construction at the end of 2009. All of the governments, merchants and individuals in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong province is paying close attention to the project as it involves huge capital investment, advanced technology and will cause fundamental changes on the current structure of this region. Many studies were conducted to demonstrate the possible impacts of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge to Hong Kong port, and the result is arguable. However, seldom people consider its impacts toward the development of Gaolan port the only nature deep water port in west bank of PRD region locates in western of Zhuhai city. This article compares the advantages and disadvantages of Hong Kong port and Gaolan port, analyses the opportunities and treats faced by Gaolan port, and investigates short term and long term influences that Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge will bring to Gaolan port.
