Entrepreneurial orientation & firm performance : the moderating effect of institution & governing-agency social capitalen_US
This research aims to extend the work of previous scholars by examining how governing-agency and institution social capital influence the relationship between a firm's Entrepreneurial Orientation and its performance. The work examines how network resources enable and constrain a firm's ability to acquire competitive capabilities through the exposure to information and opportunities in order to formulate entrepreneurial strategic orientation. This study aims at filling the gaps in previous work done by scholars (Lumpkin and Dess, 1996), who called for additional work to be undertaken in identifying the moderating effect in the relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation and firm performance. Samples were drawn from the membership directory of the Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics (HAFFA), and the findings contribute to the understanding of how networks tie with governing-agency and institutions in helping firms posture their entrepreneurial strategic orientation which affects their performance. If offers further insights into governing-agency and institutions as particular types of social capital for firms, and it also distinguishes the differences between the governing-agency and institution social capitals in assisting firms to posture and sustain their entrepreneurial orientation.en_US
