Semiconductor laser diode control system based on FPGAen_US
Since 1960, the year of the invention of laser, laser equipment, laser technology and its applications all have an extremely great development. At present, it nearly has penetrated into all disciplines and applications. As a type of predominant radiant source, laser has been used comprehensively. Hundreds of lasers have been developed nowadays, with the output wavelength ranging from near ultraviolet to the far infrared, and the radial power ranging from several milliwatts to ten thousand watts. Among them semiconductor laser diode has found many applications in telecommunication and sensor systems. So, the research about the output power control of semiconductor laser has become increasingly important. In this dissertation, about the study on laser diode power control using PID control algorithm implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) platform is described. The approach for realizing the power control system from design to simulation using PID control algorithm based on FPGA is presented. Some preliminary results for controlling the power of a semiconductor laser using Xilinx Spartan3a development board are included.en_US
