An investigation on design of restaurant review websites from users' perspectiveen_US
With rapid development of technology, users are able to obtain wide range of comments and feedbacks, regarding services, products and companies, from the Internet. In recent years, restaurant review websites are getting more and more popular. Users visit restaurant review websites and collect word-of-mouth for the purposes of reducing potential risk and search time. Examples of restaurant review website include OpenRice.com and Dianping.com tailored for users in Hong Kong and Mainland China respectively. In this research, attributes affecting the design of restaurant review websites were investigated. Both primary and secondary data were collected for analysis, including 256 questionnaires, journals, books, conference paper and websites. Results showed that majority of users were in the age range of 18-39 and their main purposes of visiting restaurant review website were collecting dining information and conducting parametric search of restaurant. The information provided clues to owners of website for adjusting the marketing strategy, re-allocating resources as well as developing new functions to satisfy the needs of users. Besides, findings indicated that one of the website quality factors, e.g. Added-Value Function, exert positive and significant impact on overall satisfaction of users. Hence, it was suggested that quality and design of restaurant review websites would also impact user satisfactions. The results are the same as those identified from general, travel and tourism related websites in previous literatures. It implied that owners and operators of restaurant review websites shall emphasize on the design of website, e.g. especially on Added-Value Function, in order to meet the needs and expectations from user, and eventually to enhance user satisfaction.en_US
