dcterms.abstractThe outsourcing part of a business is very common place today as this new business aspect increases profitability and enhances competitiveness. With the continuously rising of customer demands in product innovation, high quality and quick delivery etc., business faces a lot of challenges. Good suppliers play an important role in sustaining a corporation's competitiveness because poor suppliers make difficult for a company to comply with the customer's needs. Nevertheless, there is lack of a systematic approach for choosing appropriate suppliers. Furthermore, even if the right supplier has been chosen, how to maintain the relationship is another issue to deal with. The objectives of this dissertation are to formulate a suit of methodologies for selecting suitable suppliers, monitoring the operations and building up long-term relationships. Steps to select appropriate suppliers are illustrated, and the monitoring process with details of concerned is then given. Lastly, a demonstration on how to form alliances with suppliers to build long-term relationships is presented.en_US
