dcterms.abstractThis study is to calibrate the performance of asphalt pavement in Kam Pok Road, Hong Kong by a pavement design program, Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Program (M-E PDG), based on the detailed traffic data and the condition of the hot and wet climate. M-E PDG is a pavement design program which is used to predict the performance of new and rehabilitated pavement structure. Before using the program, the M-E PDG design guides should be read to achieve a clear understanding on the program. Through inputting the traffic data, climate, and structural layer information which has been put into the analytical process, a comprehensive and considerable amount of results and graphs will be generated as the output, such as thermal cracking, fatigue cracking, and so on. The sensitive factors affected the result can be found when comparing the results among those analyses, also the distresses of three types of road pavement structures are analyzed in detail. Through the analysis, the suitable structure under the same condition of traffic load and environment which meets the requirements and has the minimum cost could be found. There is still ongoing and future works which need to be done, FWD is a backcalculation method used in in-situ resilient moduli, and stress data, strain gauge data and a combination of these which is used for backcalculating the resilient modulus can be collected by a computer model, Labview. So the pavement response data collected in the field testing program are used to backcalculate pavement material properties which can calibrate the pavement material properties used in M-E PDG.en_US
