Photogrammetric approach for detection of rooftop illegal structuresen_US
Currently, village houses have been concerned by government in Hong Kong. Compared with other methods based on rooftop flat, this paper will introduce a new method based on building heights, according to the living situation in Hong Kong. This study aims to extract illegal rooftop structures to judge buildings whether belong to illegal or not. The data is divided into aerial photograph and building design data that both from government. The detection area is New Territories in Hong Kong, because village houses are the main buildings in this area. Photogrammetry and GIS as two main technologies are applied to this project. Firstly, produce DEM through aerial photograph. In this step, the control points are from Google Earth rather than GPS that can save time, reduce costs and improve work efficiently. The key point of this part is transformation coordination of control points, because of different coordination system. And choosing a suitable interpolation method is also important. Then compare the height from DEM image with building design data to detect building. Manual vectorization is necessary in this step, although there are huge data, because of the limited functions in software. Then calculate height different according to attribute table using SQL to obtain result. Finally, test detection result using hypothesis testing and filed-testing. This method carried out detection of rooftop illegal structures.en_US
