Pseudorange error analysis based on long-term GPS observation in Hong Kongen_US
In this dissertation, the data from a local GPS network of a solar maximum year 2001 is studied. The pseudorange errors are isolated for detecting their behavior and error sources. Outlier filter was used for extracting extremely large errors out from normal errors. Both two categories of pseudorange errors were discussed. A series of statistical results show there is a daily and seasonal behavior of pseudorange errors in low latitude region like Hong Kong. The distribution is not normal distribution but with heavy tails due to ionospheric related factors. A strong positive correlation between ionospheric disturbance and the standard deviation of pseudorange errors is demonstrated. In addition, to insure integrity, inflated sigma was calculated under different ionospheric activities. The statistic on pseudorange errors of different satellite elevation angle intervals illustrates that the common used pseudorange error model, the satellite elevation angle model is not suitable for those low latitude regions whose main errors are from ionosphere during the period when ionospheric scintillation occur. For those special cases of pseudorange errors, two types of errors are detected and classified as the results from receiver failure. One is occurred on P2 and the other is on C/A code. Moreover, the determining factor of the long-term continuous large error in Station HKFN is multipath which is closely associated with site environment.en_US
