dc.title | Real fire test on R.C. structural members and structural steel members | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | This paper discusses on the results of a real fire test on newly cast R.C. structural members, plain concrete members, an existing R.C. structure and structural steel members with different damage mitigation measures and protection treatments. A real fire test was conducted on 20.8.2010 in an existing one-storey R.C. pump house which was converted into a fire chamber comprising two sub-chambers for testing reinforced concrete and plain concrete columns. The temperature of those columns and the air inside the two sub-chambers was fully monitored during the fire test, by thermocouples. Different damage mitigation measures and protection treatments were applied to the concrete columns, existing R.C. structural members and structural steel members. Water quenching to the columns was carried out in one sub-chamber. A number of tests were carried out to the tested columns, existing R.C. structural members and structural steel members to quantify the fire damages. Records of temperature and observed damages were also analyzed together with those test results. Based on the analyses of the test results, recorded temperature and observed damage, performance of different damage mitigation measures and protection treatment was compared. The observed difference in damage between R.C. structural members and plain concrete members were analyzed. The effect of water quenching was studied. The damage of structural steel members was analyzed. A methodology on investigation of R.C. structures after fire was suggested and verified in a real fire case. All those findings in the analyses as mentioned above were presented in this report. | en_US |
