| Abstract: | Sustainable development has been concerned from the fringe to the top of China's agenda for a long time. Green building is an appropriate measure to balance the human activity, economic growth together with environment protection. Although being a green pioneer, Shanghai still cannot reach the green building popularization mission. Most previous literatures focus on the measures to improve green building development from the perspectives of technology, design, assessment and cost. The ultimate vision of this dissertation is to find solutions to promote green building in Shanghai from the perspective of Buyers' Perception on Green Building in Making Purchase Decision. The findings reveal that currently there are some problems existing in green promotion in Shanghai, and those are also the reasons for Shanghai homebuyers not willing to purchase a green building. In general, these reasons lie in both the limitation of knowledge of buyers, and in the inefficient promotion of information exchange by green suppliers'. Shanghai buyers' voiced out for the need of green promotion also reveal their support and demands for green building. There is a long way to solve the problems mentioned aforesaid. Correspondingly, a series of comprehensive suggestions are proposed which can help improve the green promotion based upon different levels ranging from government policies to industrial support chain and public education on green building. |
