High-frequency endoscopic ultrasonic transducer based on PMN-PT single crystalen_US
Nowadays, ultrasonic diagnostic technique has been broadly used in many medical applications such as cardiology, gynecology, and endoscopy, etc., after more than sixty years development. When adopted in endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound is used to form ultrasonic images of the alimentary canal, and also the tissues and organs that are surrounding the alimentary canal, by putting the endoscope into the alimentary canal through the mouth, to obtain the information of them for diagnosis. One of the essential elements in ultrasonic diagnostic system is the ultrasound transducer, which can generate a sound wave and detect the echo of the sound wave, in another word, first changing electrical energy into mechanical energy, and then changing mechanical energy into an electrical signal. By generating and transmitting the ultrasonic wave into the body and detecting the reflected echoes using the same transducer, we can get ultrasonic images in real time Nowadays, the most of the endoscopic ultrasonic transducers are fabricated from piezoelectric ceramic Pb (Zr, Ti) O3 (PZT). However, the properties of PMN-PT single crystals are superior to those of PZT. In this article, a high-frequency endoscopic ultrasonic transducer based on PMN-PT single crystal has been manufactured and tested. And as shown in the performance, the total work is successful and meaningful.en_US
