dcterms.abstract | This cultural study attempts to find out the way Madonna reconstructing gender in her music videos. Data were selected based on certain criteria which will be mentioned in the following parts. Mainly based on the Baldry & Thibault (2006) as well as Bordwell, Thompson & Ashton (1997)'s framework, ten samples of her music videos are chosen for analysis in terms of the semiotic resources which are related to the reconstruction of gender. The findings show that Madonna's music videos construe and represent women as well as men's image in her own way, which is different from the traditional impression about males and females. This research provides the readers with a deeper understanding about the gender reconstruction in Madonna's music videos. | en_US |
