dcterms.abstractThis research aims at opening up an unexplored direction in the private supplementary tutoring market in Hong Kong. This small-scale research serves as a pilot study which provides a preliminary idea of the situation in the primary school private supplementary tutoring on English subject. This topic stems from the phenomenon of newspapers and billboards flooded with advertisements of star tutors of secondary school private supplementary tutoring in Hong Kong. The views of parents, students and teachers on the issue are discussed. With the problems being addressed, this research intends to draw the attention to children's psychological and cognitive development, children's right of enjoying entertainment at their leisure and to legislate for private supplementary tutoring for further research.en_US
