Abstract: Tourism industry is now noted as one of the pillar industries in Ningbo by local government. As a major segment in tourism industry, hotel's competition is getting more and more serious. Moreover, the competition for the human resources became a core issue. In order to keep the hotel's capability to survive this critical environment, HR department is now tying to transfer their role from an executive supporter to a cooperator of hotel's management. - To supply more professional human resources to serve the hotel's business. To fulfill this transformation, HR department has to use more updated technology to support their routine. The adoption of IT became a hot issue in the hotel industry. In present, using IT in HR department's work is not very popular. Therefore, this paper is going to find out the current situation of adoption of IT in Ningbo's hotel through social survey. The in-depth interview were involved in some experienced hoteliers. Based on these hoteliers' points of view, this paper tried to find out the possible reasons that might be hidden in the IT adoption in HR management. As a results, gave a model to the current situation in Ningbo and suggested it as a reference to the IT development in the hotel's HR management.
