Abstract: This thesis reports a numerical investigation of the aeroacoustics of a subsonic planar jet impinging on a moving wall. To investigate the effect of the moving wall on the flow dynamics and the acoustics of the impinging jet, Direct Aeroacoustic Simulation (DAS) approach is chosen in order to capture the feedback mechanism between nozzle and the plate. Furthermore, conservation element and solution element (CE/SE) method is adopted to solve the unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes equation and equation of state. In order to verify this numerical approach used in the calculation, the experiment about a high-speed, subsonic impinging planar jet in the literature is chosen for the verification. All the numerical investigations are performed in two dimensions. The Mach number M=0.882, Reynolds number Re=61592, and the numerical formulation are taken from the experiment of Arthurs and Ziada (2012), in which the wall is stationary. This investigation firstly compares the numerical and experimental results of near flow field and the far field acoustics in the verifications. Then, it proceeds to we will calculate the moving impinging wall case, for the evolution of the effect of plate movement on the aeroacoustics of impinging jet.
