dcterms.abstract | Every product has been required to improve its operational efficiency with comfort and reliability due to the increasingly complexity and advancement of the industry society. However, whether customers can accept a product is no longer exclusively characterized by the question of its functionality, but is also influenced by acoustical convenience. In other words, quality is always an important issue of current attention with regard to the sound quality design and assessment of product because it has now been commonly realized by engineers that the sound quality of a product generates is a significant component of the customers’ general judgment on buying the product. This fact has been ignored for a long time by engineers but now, much to their concern, they are more and more pushed to take it into account in the product design and development process. Therefore, this study focuses on domestic hair-care products and seeks to investigate and evaluate the relationship between the sound quality of hair-care products and human perception by using psychoacoustic methods. The psychoacoustic parameters including loudness, sharpness, roughness, and fluctuation strength have been measured to find out its physical characteristics. At the same time, a total of 250 valid responses were collected from the questionnaire surveys administered in the anechoic chamber while objective sound quality parameter measurements were carried out in the same spot subsequently. After the questionnaire survey and the sound quality measurement, a multivariate ordered logit model has been formulated to establish a stochastic relationship between acoustic annoyance evaluation and its influencing factors. Prior to this, the correlation between all parameters and factors were studied using Pearson's Correlation. The findings unveil that both subjective and objective factors influence the acoustic annoyance estimation. Comparing all the studied factors, acoustic factors play an important role in hair care product sound comfort evaluation. Among human perception related factors, the feeling of whether the sound emitted from a hair dryer is whistling or not and how pleasant an individual feels are better proxies for hair dryer sound annoyance evaluation. Moreover, people’s habits when using a hair dryer in their daily life also influences the result, for example the duration of using a hair dryer and their noise sensitivity is also of vital importance. The multivariate ordered logit model can be used to predict the annoyance rating of the respondents to the hair dryer product. In addition, a linear regression model has also been developed to investigate the relationship between acoustic annoyance evaluation and its influencing factors. In order to evaluate the relationship between the sound quality parameters and the human perception more accurately and conveniently, one more investigation is carried on with the surrogate analysis by using MATLAB. Unfortunately, the polynomial model developed is not as good as we expected. Thus, some suggestions have been produced to improve this study in the future. | en_US |
