dc.title | Research of system architecture for test data acquisition and test data management | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Testing is essential work in product development and production. Poor or insufficient testing can lead to serious consequences during product development, production and operation, especially for mission or life-critical products, such as aircraft engines. The time spent on developing test methods and facilities occupies rather large part of the whole product development cycle; also the test related expenses are one of the major cost sources of product development and production in high-tech and high value product industries. Thus it is of significance to research the architecture of test-centered domain, from both the time-reducing and cost-saving perspectives. This research aims to study the generalized architecture of physical product test domain, including holistic testing architecture, data model of test management, plug-in based ATE test application architecture, and Web-based & layered test data management system architecture. This thesis starts from analysis of product testing in the context of product lifecycle, and following the survey of the current test data management approaches, application pros and cons, then supposes a future vision of testing management as the general goal of this research. The main part of the thesis carries on architecture studies of test data acquisition and test data management system architecture from four perspectives: holistic architecture, data architecture, plug-in based test application architecture, and test data management system architecture. The integration between TDMS and other major enterprise business systems like PDM/ERP/MES are also studied; uniform data model and functional interfaces are proposed to provide guidance for the design of integration solution. | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | The final part summaries the research of this dissertation and provides further work suggestions. The research findings of this dissertation present in five outcomes. The first outcome is the provisioning of business reference model and service-oriented architecture & pattern for the domain of test data acquisition and test data management; this helps better understanding the holistic architecture view of product test centered business & technology domain. The second outcome is the test data architecture models that employees vertical expansion strategy, thus providing the competence of accommodating heterogeneous test schemas, versatile test parameters and huge volume test data without changing the underlying data table structure in database; the corresponding data implementation scheme has uniform test data structure that provides stable foundation for the development of flexible & reusable test software application on automatic test equipment (ATE) and test data management system (TDMS). The third outcome named as plug-in based test application architecture, supposes a design scheme that models test execution as plug-in modular unit which can be developed individually away from test host application. This separates common test software functions from specific test execution requirements, thus provides a mechanism to build flexible and reusable test application. The fourth outcome called as Web-based & layered test data management system architecture, presents layers, components and their relations & functionalities in the test data management system, also suggests possible technology solution stacks that adopts current available main stream technology components and platforms; this provides a blue-print for the construction of a general purpose test data management system. The fifth outcome is the possible integration model that links TDMS with other major enterprise systems (PDM/ERP/MES) to provide seamless information flows and fluent business process collaborations that helps work efficiency and promotes productivity at enterprise-level. | en_US |
