dc.title | Sitting posture-based wheelchair control, empowering the disabled people to use the wheelchair | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | The objective of this work is to design and implement a sitting posture recognition system for the disabled using pressure sensors. Sitting posture recognition enriches the power of the disabled by allowing them to use their postures to control the ambient devices such as wheelchair, TV, etc. However, current solutions to sitting posture recognition are designed without considering the inconvenience and need of the disabled. Thus, we aim to develop sitting posture recognition techniques that are tailored to the disabled. In particular, we first classify the disabled or injured people by the movement capability and age, and then we design different methods for people in different categories accordingly. The sitting posture recognition model is constructed using the machine learning techniques upon the collected pressure sensor data. The experiment result shows that the proposed method can achieve high accuracy for different categories of the disabled people. | en_US |
