dc.title | Power generation from grey water in high-rise buildings | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | The tremendous increase of Hong Kong's energy consumption and sewage generation puts a heavy burden on people to do something positive. Being ready to take the load, a commercially viable hydropower system are proposed to harness gravitational potential energy from grey water in high-rise buildings. By taking advantage of gravitational force and water cycle, hydropower technology holds commercially promising through converting the power of flowing water into electricity. However, historically, system related to electricity generation from water pipelines was rare, which, in most cases, due to its low efficiency performance. The aim of the study is to find the best efficient operational model of this micro hydropower system. A practical operational model was established as well as a simple optimum promotion analysis and discussion. Based on the conceptualization of fluid dynamic theory, detailed calculation, case study was conducted by using a typical residential high-rise building in Hong Kong as a model sample and the results was used to estimate the feasibility of this micro hydro power project. In addition, a cost-benefit analysis is also discussed for practical usage and the results show that the proposed system is of both commercially promising value and practicability for most cities with high-rise buildings. | en_US |
