dc.title | A study on tourism information supply and analysis | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | Along with development of Internet and ICT, the demand of obtain traveling information has been increasing. At the same time, the rapid rising of Web Geographic Information System (Web GIS) promote the spatial data widely used in the various aspects of our daily life. This project aims to study tourism information supply and analysis using GIS technology within the context of smart tourism. This aim will be reached by: a)developing a tourist information system (TIS), which can provide tourists with a travelling and tourism plan according to the interests of the visitors and their time limit; and b) an analysis of travelling behaviors within a city, such as in Hong Kong, which is very interested in by local tourism authorities. The TIS will be capable to collect, edit, query, manage and analyze tourist travelling information, and mostly important to supply tourists with a completely traveling plan before his/ her journey. Compare to the existing tourism information systems, which mainly pay attention to tourism information query on tourism attractions, this system focus on supplying visitors with a traveling plan actively. The proposed TIS will be developed based on GIS and database technologies. Specifically, it will be based on the JAVA platform and Google Map that use Google Map API. As location information display and analysis will be intensively used in the TIS, the system combines GIS and LBS technologies. The system integrates several functions, which can be used to get tourism information from webpage to database. Visitors are thus able to query tourism information, which they are interested in from the database. The system can provide route plan function, which suggests suitable route for visitors, which is very important for visitors in making their schedule. Having obtained sufficient tourism information supplied by the TIS, a tourist can arrange an optimum route for visiting the tourism attractions, which is mostly interested in him/her within his/her limited time. | en_US |
