dc.title | Impacts of bus merging behavior on bus and car queues at harbor-shaped bus stops | en_US |
dcterms.abstract | This thesis aims to study the behavior generated when the buses exit a harbor-shaped bus stop and merge into the traffic flow. Meanwhile, in the thesis, research is also conducted on how the whole traffic flow is influenced by the behavior. A relatively simple model involving bus queueing, car-following, and merge models has been raised to complete the research. Besides, due to different traffic strategies, the behaviors of buses and cars are different, while this difference is considered in the model to simulate the real cases. Following the basic physical principle, the bus queueing model involves little knowledge about traffic flow, while car-following and merge models are proposed based on simple kinematic rules. The difficult point lies in the logic in each model and the use of logic required to combine the three models together. The whole model has been designed to get a strategy so as to relieve vehicle delay. Due to the influence of the merging behavior exerted on the delay of the entire traffic flow, the delay in urban bus stop area is mainly analyzed. Moreover, at the end of the thesis, a series of results are presented, after the numerical analysis of the results, a solution is provided to solve urban area traffic problems. | en_US |
